Russian Navy Modernized


The Astrakhan new generation river-sea type gunboat was built by the St. Petersburg Almaz shipyard. The vessel delivered to the Caspian Flotilla features stealth technology and is designed to protect Russia’s 200-mile economic zone and provide naval gunfire support for counterterrorist operations.


The Steregushchy corvette was launched at the Northern Shipyard in St. Petersburg.


The Project 21630 Makhachkala gunboat’s construction starts in St. Petersburg (the Astrakhan gunboat is in the background).

The submarine has a length of 170 meters (580 feet), a body diameter around 13 meters (42 feet), and a submerged speed of about 29 knots. It can carry up to 16 ballistic missiles.
