The "Modernisation Plan: Vision 2026", which was announced by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) on 27 February, contains three objectives: to improve the preparation of the Thai military, to enhance capabilities, and to modernise related structures. Austal Launches Second Cape-Class Patrol Boat for Australian Navy 17 Februari 2017 Cape class patrol boat (photo : Austal) Australian shipbuilder Austal launched the tenth Cape-class patrol boat for the Royal Australian Navy at its Henderson, Western Australia, shipyard on February 14. Future Australian Defence Vessel (ADV) Cape Inscription is the the second of two follow-on Cape-class boats that will be operated by the Royal Australian Navy. The first boat, ‘Cape Fourcroy’, was rolled out in December last year and is scheduled for delivery to the navy in April 2017. The first eight vessels were ordered in 2011 and entered service with the Australian Border Force from 2013 onwards. In December 2015, Austal announced a AU$63 million contract for the construction of another two boats. DSME Launches Thailand"s First Multipurpose Frigate 24 Januari 2017 RTN frigate HTMS 471 (photos : Navy for Life)  South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) launched a 122 m frigate on order for the Royal Thai Navy (RTN) on 23 January. The vessel, which has been ordered under a THB14.6 billion (USD396 million) contract inked between the Thai government and DSME in August 2013, was launched at DSME"s facilities in Okpo, the company confirmed to IHS Jane"s on the same day. The frigate, which has been given the pennant number 471, derives its design from the Kwanggaeto Daewang (KDX-1) destroyer in service with the Republic of Korea Navy (RoKN). The platform displaces 3,650 tonnes, features an overall length of 122.5 m and an overall beam of 14.4 m, and can accommodate a crew of 136. ( Jane"s ) Militer Indonesia
